Throughout my professional aviation career beginning as an operations officer with TransAer and then flight dispatcher with Aer Arann, I have always strived to achieve the highest standards by being a highly motivated personable team player. I have always been passionate about training and achieving the highest standard as good pilot training is the biggest risk mitigator in aviation. I have received instruction on and flown 4 types of multicrew aircraft, the ATR42/72, Boeing 737,Airbus A320 and Airbus A330. I have also been fortunate to have served a time as a ground school instructor with Aer Arann and also time as an Temporary EFB Co-Pilot instructor here in Aer Lingus and all this has given me exposure to a number of different operational and training environments and the experience gained I feel will be of benefit to the Aer Lingus training department. I am eager to continue and pursue my interest in training with Aer Lingus as a Line Training Instructor. I have always been self motivated and have kept up to date with industry trends and developments. The recent evidence based training developments are very exciting and this is crucial to the future of training. I believe my experience, ability to use my initiative, being patient, flexible and able to motivate people by way of good CRM principles, along with the ability to assess and report on observed crew performance standards to be particularly suitable for this vacancy.

I am currently a Captain on the A320 fleet and have been involved in Aviation for some twenty seven years and have flown various aircraft including the B737, B757, A320 and A330.
I was lucky enough to start my flying career with Queens University Air Squadron which gave me the opportunity to complete 70 hours of the RAF's elementary flying program.
I was then selected for the Aer Lingus Cadetship and started in Michigan IPTC January 1999 which I completed with a move to the Boeing 737 in early 2000. In 2005 I moved to the A320, onto the A330 in 2007. With the opportunity for Captaincy, I moved back to the A320 for training and checking, which I was delighted to pass and was promoted to Captain in April 2011.
I moved again to a contract with ASL to fly the B757 transatlantic, exploring new AL routes, until my return in January 2020.
When not in work, I spend my time coaching kids rugby and have completed various IRFU coaching courses with the support of the IRFU and the Ulster Branch.
I was also selected by the RAF to become an officer in the Northern Ireland University Air Squadron, by providing AEF flights for cadet pilots and was awarded a Commission in the RAF in early 2020.
Pertaining to my application, I think I would make a good candidate as my flying career to date is extensive and diverse, and balanced with outside interests, equips me with the requisite skills for the job.
I now just completed a full A320 conversion and Line training, which brings my technical
